This empty-nester couple was downsizing by more than half, to 1,700 sq. ft., plus an unfinished basement and bonus room over the garage. 3 bedroom, acres of land, wrap-around front porch, mountain views, Superior Walls foundation basement walls. Open first floorplan, with breakfast bar and stone-faced fireplace.
Deep in the woods, this mountain cabin just outside Asheville, NC, was designed as the perfect weekend getaway space. The owner uses it as an Airbnb for income. For maximum interior space usage, the sleeping loft is accessed via an outside stairway.

The brick-look kitchen backsplash wall is actually porcelain tile. High-efficiency, wood-burning fireplace heats the entire home. Glass panel doors add a flair. LED lighting throughout. This client loved wood. Site-harvested lumber was applied to the stairwell walls with beautiful effect in this North Asheville home. The tongue-and-groove, nickel-jointed milling and installation, along with the simple detail metal balusters created a focal point for the home. The heavily-sloped lot afforded great views out back, demanded lots of view-facing windows, and required supported decks off the main floor and lower level.
The screened porch features a massive, wood-burning outdoor fireplace with a traditional hearth, faced with natural stone. The side-yard natural-look water feature attracts many visitors from the surrounding woods.
A warm contemporary plan, with a distinctive stairwell tower. They chose us because of the variety of styles we’ve built in the past, the other satisfied clients they spoke with, and our transparent financial reporting throughout the building process. This couple wanted their mountainside home to take in their views of downtown Asheville. The distinctive vaulted ceiling line carries from the front porch, through the living room, and out onto the back deck. The main living area features floor-to-ceiling windows to embrace the beauty of the mountains. Reflecting their contemporary tastes, the interior lines are all simple and clean. The back deck spans the nearly the full width of the home, with minimally obscuring stainless steel cable railing.
This one-story post-and-beam constructed home features rustic wood accents throughout, two kitchen islands, an elevator, a fireplace in the bedroom, a walk-out basement the includes a large game room, office, family living area, and more. Out back are expansive multiple decks, a screened porch, and a full outdoor kitchen with fireplace on the lower level. “Communication and follow through from the entire HomeSource staff continues to be exceptional. Any additional work we wanted or needed was done promptly and professionally. A truly positive experience.” - DEWANE & CHRISTIANNE
“Our experience working with Tim and his crew was wonderful—end to end. The quoting process, progress reports (both project and financial), communications, completion date were all spot on. Honest, ethical folks all around. Our home was a “warm contemporary” design, and in area of the country where that’s somewhat unusual. However, even with a few curve balls we threw into the mix, they strategized and executed every step, professionally and without taking shortcuts.” - PERRY AND MERRI
“Not only was quality work done, but the subcontractors appeared to enjoy what they were doing and had pride in their work. Conflicts just didn’t happen and if we had a problem, Tim was available to negotiate a solution.” - MIKE & MONIQUE
