While Distinctive Remodeling didn’t exist before 2002, let’s go back to the early 80’s to learn how Eddie Casanave got to where he is today.
As the youngest of nine children, working was always part of the family way of living. Everyone had to pull their own weight. In his Junior High summers, Eddie would travel from WV to Newport News, VA to work for his brother in law’s company, Anchor Builders. In 1984, Eddie graduated from high school and enrolled in NC State to become a Civil Engineer in the Construction curriculum.
He contracted deck projects to make enough money to pay for school, and in 1987 he got his General Contractors license and started Outdoor Creations, to work full time and go to school full time. He got his engineering degree and EIT certificate in 1989, and incorporated his company as Casanave Construction Co., Inc. in 1990. Eddie started the Remodelers Council in 1993 and was chairman for the first three years. He became President of the local Home Builders Association in 2001 – the first remodeler to do so. In 1996 he started another company, Horizon Cabinetry, Inc., to better serve customers needing custom cabinetry.
