Growing up in North Carolina has provided Wallace Baker with a wonderful opportunity to be a part of a widely-developing area in both residential and commercial building. More than 30 years ago, he began as an apprentice learning the construction, a municipal building inspector earning the State’s highest level of certification in building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical and fire code.
Wallace started TrendMark with one goal in mind: to provide the highest quality home remodeling and building services to discerning customers in the Apex, Cary & Raleigh North Carolina metro area.
As your general contractor, he personally oversees all aspects of your project including the planning, designing, estimating, and implementing it, all in a timely manner. The goal of each project is to achieve customer satisfaction during all phases of your new custom home or home remodeling project. You can depend on Wallace’s reputation as a trustworthy and conscientious professional throughout his many years of experience in the construction industry.

Projects
After meeting with TrendMark to discuss the possibilities, we developed a plan to remodel the kitchen. The new gourmet kitchen features modern custom wood stained cabinets, professional grade appliances and a large island with Calcutta Vintage Quartz with a waterfall edge design.

We designed a plan to add on a breakfast area to the back of their home allowing for a much larger kitchen. Now instead of a small confined outdated kitchen, an open floor plan includes an updated kitchen and breakfast area.
The new gourmet kitchen features custom cabinets, professional appliances, tile stone backsplash and a large island. The new kitchen layout makes cooking fun and easy especially with two dishwashers to help with clean-up.
Using the space for the old corner tub, the new enlarge shower features polished tile and pebble floors making a beautiful focal point. The new large double vanity provides extra counter space and storage. This master bathroom is an oasis that the homeowners will enjoy for years.
After completely gutting the bathroom including the linen closet was taken out along with giant garden tub that the home owners never used. This created space for lots of extra cabinetry with linen towers and a corner make up area. The open ceiling above the closet was closed in to make a consistent vaulted ceiling for custom beam accents. The shower/water closet area was re-plumed to accommodate a new bidet. The curbless shower with beautiful tile accents make the new room stunning.
After completely gutting the bathroom including the linen closet and small walk-in closet, a wall was constructed above the plant shelf to divide the master bedroom and bathroom. This opening had always been a problem with creating privacy in the bathroom or bedroom. By enclosing the opening, it not only updated the look, it allowed them to use the bathroom without disturbing their spouse who may be sleeping in the master bedroom.
After consulting with TrendMark to evaluate the possibilities for the house, they decided to purchase the home and move forward with an extensive whole house remodel and addition. The remodeling project included a two-story 1600-square foot rear addition to give their family the much needed additional space.
We designed a new master bedroom suite off the rear of the home that included a large master bathroom and walk-in closet with a barn door. The large windows allow for plenty of light and a beautiful view of the backyard. We also remove the load bearing wall between the living and family room and installed a a recessed beam making one large seamless room with plenty of room for family and friends. The front staircase was also updated with wrought iron railings and full oak hardwood treads.
We set out to developed a plan to create the perfect space that would trump any sports bar in town. This basement was a leaky, wet, musty mess. This was the first issue that had to be resolved. A new structural back wall had to be constructed if front of the failing wall to correct this issue. To top it off, the homeowner wanted to open up the back corner of the room which was blocked by the base of a three-story chimney. With lots of chipping away and a few steel beams, this was achieved. The archway under the chimney adds lots of character to the room. The homeowner is thrilled with his new man cave.

"Our two 43 year old bathrooms were stripped down to stud walls and sub-floor. In one, the tub was removed and replaced by a frameless glass shower occupying that space. In the other the toilet was moved to create a water closet, sinks were moved, and a glass enclosure added to the tub. Vanities were custom built, lighting fixtures replaced, a heated floor installed in the master bath, new fans and mirrors added, a solar tube added, standard door openings replaced with pocket doors, plumbing fixtures replaced, and granite tops installed on vanities. Floors and shower were tiled as was the tub surround. The estimate and cost was in the middle of the range of estimates we received. The built in allowances were good and we had little over costs. Wallace is a wizard at scheduling and work was continuous on our project. His tradesmen (plumber, electrician, tile setter, etc.) work only for TrendMark and are perfectionists.
They respected our home, were efficient and able to problem solve, happy to answer questions, and cleaned up the work site at the end of each day. We confidently allowed them to work in our home while we were away for three weeks. Just before leaving we discovered our roof needed replacing. Wallace offered to handle this for us and obtained an estimate from a roofing company he trusts. We approved the estimate, gave Wallace a check in that amount to pay the roofers, and had a new roof when we returned. Wallace and the project manager were readily available by phone or e-mail. TrendMark went above and beyond for us. The experience and final result exceeded our expectations. The only item on our punch list was a few paint touch-ups which were completed without having to remind them. TrendMark produces high-end results at a fair price.
