A successful bathroom remodel doesn’t always require reconfiguration. To save cost, some may choose not to alter their space’s footprint, but we can still beautifully transform a bathroom with thoughtfully selected finishes.

It's incredible how a remodel can transform the "vibe" of a kitchen, making what use to be an unremarkable space into your very own oasis. At the Old Farm Kitchen, the space was a previously bit dark and dated and the layout needed some tweaks to make the room more functional. Along the perimeter of the kitchen, we relocated the appliances and the sink; installed shaker white cabinetry (with roll-outs!); installed a white, tile backsplash; added a wall sconce over the sink; and built custom, floating shelves with under-cabinet lighting. We extended the peninsula, replaced the cabinetry with a darker style to match the floating shelves and re-located the microwave to the peninsula cabinetry, and hung a beautiful pendant light. We chose a white/silver quartz for the countertops. We also made other changes throughout the home, including building some stunning storage, with a book-shelf, in the game-room.

Another wonderful kitchen remodel completed! At the Colwick Kitchen, we removed the wall separating kitchen from living room and completely reconfigured the footprint of the space. We built a large island with pearl gray cabinetry that houses a beautiful apron-front, farmhouse sink in black quartz. The island provides plenty of room for seating, additional storage, and a dishwasher - illuminated by two beautiful pendant lights. Along the perimeter of the kitchen, we installed shaker white cabinetry with under-cabinet lighting. We chose white quartz counter tops throughout the space.

We're so excited to be starting another great kitchen remodel! Like many homeowners, the Astrid Kitchen clients would like their dated kitchen to flow more openly with the adjoining rooms and they would like the space to be brightened and updated. Wendy, MUSE Residential's lead designer, is on-site during demo day to preview our design plans.

Ending the week in a high note, with another great presentation by our design team!

In the Chalmers Bathroom, we removed the large tub and deck and replaced it with a freestanding tub. By doing so, we were able to extend the vanity. The vanity features semi-custom, stained oak cabinetry with lots of storage; quartz counter tops; and brushed nickle hardware. Above the vanity, we added decorative medicine cabinets for additional storage space. We were also able to enlarge the shower and upgrade it with custom shower glass, beautiful mosaic wall-tile, two niches, two shower heads, and a floating corner bench. Additional storage, with roll-outs, was added beside the new shower. To boot, we installed heated floors to keep our client nice and cozy during those colder, winter months.

What a transformation! The Greystoke Kitchen used to be a cramped space with limited functionality. We removed the wall dividing the kitchen and family room and reconfigured the space's layout. We built a large island and packed it with thoughtful details and features, including navy cabinetry, white quartz counter tops, a beautiful farmhouse sink, wine fridge, dishwasher, and decorative shelving. Along the perimeter, we removed the pantry in order to extend the counter tops and add cabinetry that features loads of storage, customized to meet this client's needs. We deleted a little-used doorway between the kitchen and office to create tall-wall for additional cabinetry, a new refrigerator, and a wall oven. Between the kitchen and family room, we removed a built-in book case and replaced it with a bar, which helps transition the two spaces. As a finishing touch, and to further help marry the two rooms, we updated the family-room fireplace to mirror finishes within the kitchen.

What better way to end the week than with a productive kitchen design appointment?

At MUSE Residential, we regularly remove and move walls as part of our remodels and renovations. Jerehmy, general contractor at MUSE, speaks a bit about the topic while onsite at the Sunset Project.

The Tottenham Bathroom is another great example of a recent remodel in which we did not reconfigure the footprint of the space. Instead, we focused on updating the space's finishes. At the vanity, we chose pearl-maple cabinetry and quartz counter-tops. For floor tile, we selected wood-look tile, which we echoed on the lower half of the shower wall. On the upper half of the shower wall, we chose brick-look tile with pops of deep blues and violets. The pebbles on the shower floor are repeated on tub back-splash. We selected bronze plumbing fixtures for the shower, tub, and vanity.
